This February 7, 2010 in Manila, the famous Arnold “Hasta la vista” Schwarzenegger, for his blockbuster movies like Terminator, True Lies, The Last Action Hero, etc. (not to mention his computer generated face for Terminator 3) and who is now the Governor of the State of California will be coming to help with the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.

Super Typhoon “Ramil” – Philippines Local Name

Approximately 6PM yesterday (friday), Super Typhoon Lupit is now called the local name “Ramil”. So far no news yet for the Visayans of the situation there.

Super Typhoon “Lupit” will enter the Philippines area of responsibility tonight according to weather forecaster. After super typhoon ondoy, pepeng, melor, quedan and now Philippines will be devastated again yet with another super typhoon.

Lupit is the tagalog word for “unmerciful”, indeed Philippines will be in a new state of calamity. The northern part of Luzon trembled as the Fujiwara Effect caused by Pepeng and Melor.

Bagyong Ondoy not only sunk vehicles, houses but the whole Metro Manila… literally…

I just got back from the river’s edge 5 minutes ago. A 10-15 feet height differential between the Marikina River and the embankment has now been reduced to the point that water is splashing against the high-rises of Eastwood, Metro Manila. A security guard for this sealed off area approaches me and covers me with his umbrella while I snap pictures from my phone. “Where are the police or firemen?” I asked. He first points at a speck in the middle of the river 300-400 meters out to my right. “That was a woman with her 2 year old infant clinging on to her. She passed through here in the middle of the river – waving at us for help. There was nothing we could do – she had passed though within 5 seconds. We’ve been seeing other people washed away.” We watched helplessly at the 20+ people 200 meters away that are now sitting on top of their corrugated roof-tops as the river rages beneath them on their submerged homes… waiting for emergency personnel yet to come.

SUV’s and vans were clearly no match against a rampaging torrent.

Taken the morning (7am) after Typhoon Ondoy hits Metro Manila. Ondoy dumped 16 inches of rain in 9 hours, the most on record to hit Manila since 1967 (more rain than Katrina). Video shot in General Segundo Street, Heroes Hills, Quezon City.

A blog by my dearest, and me too was unaware of the event when he told me that a Solar Eclipse have occurred today. I only witness a solar eclipse in the 90’s way, way back then and wanted to see such astronomical event.

We used film strips plus sunglasses so we can look at the moon covering the sun. Too bad I missed one of the longest solar eclipse in our time.
