Survivor Philippines – Marlon Carmen voted out
In the November 24, 2008 episode of Survivor Philippines, Paolo Bediones counted the votes and it ended with 1 vote against Charisse, 1 vote against Cris (From Marlon) and 4 votes against Marlon. There was no need to count the remaining votes because the minimum of 4 votes needed to be voted out had been reached by Marlon. Both admired and hated by many, Marlon Carmen played the game the way he wanted to. He didn’t care if he steps on other people just to reach his goal. Unfortunately, though he is sly, mischievous and manipulative, it wasn’t enough to get him to the finals.
Before the tribal council was held, he made his “Last Laugh”, saying that he kept the flint, the tribe’s only source of fire. Without the flint, the tribe can’t make fire for cooking.
Suprisingly, Marlon changed his mind and did not pursue his plan of hiding the flint and left the camp doing nothing.
“Ayaw kong mawalan ng kaibigan…” says Marlon. He understands that life for the remaining castaways will be more difficult without fire. However, he left the Chalam Tribe behind without revealing his “nuclear bomb”.
The remaining castaways were left puzzled. “Pagbalik sa Maynila, doon nyo malalaman yan…” said Marlon.
Paolo Bediones gave the “white pearl” to Marlon Carmen which granted him the opportunity to give it to anyone before leaving the tribe. The “white pearl” was given to Anna Charisse Yacapin, a former Naak Tribe member, and now, the only Naak member left in the Chalam Tribe. The “white pearl” negates one vote made against its holder.
Back at the camp, it was almost pointless that Marlon didn’t put out the camp fire, because it was already raining when the rest of the tribe went back. Even the flint is useless when everything else is wet.
On tonight’s episode, the reward challenge was something different. First, Paolo Bediones narrated a local epic love story “Ang Sumpa sa Langkawi Island” (aided by a very cool puppet/shadow show for the TV viewers). The castaways would then need to answer five questions based on the story correctly to win the reward.
Robert Vincent “Rob” Sy won the reward challenge and was able to net 50,000 for his relatives back at home and some coffee for the tribe. Zita Ortiga could have won, but out of her confusion, she didn’t know she already won and all she had to do was run to Paolo Bediones and give him the five necklaces.
As Survivor Philippines draws closer and closer to its end, will the game lose its excitement or will it move on with the loss of Marlon Carmen, the game’s supposed antagonist? What will be the twists in the remaining episodes? Who will win the P3 million grand prize and to be the first Pinoy Sole Survivor?
