Visayas’ darker days – April 25, 2009 Ultimate Blackout
National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or NGCP reported that there was a line tripped in one of the transmission lines that connects Marshall sub-stations to Tabango sub-station in Leyte. 600 Megawatts of power supply from Leyte was cut, resulting the 10 hour blackout that the entire Visayas experienced ultimate blackout in a long time.
Affected areas/islands of Panay, Guimaras, Negros, Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Siquijor, Samar and Biliran was restored around 6PM yesterday. Cebu, Samar, Bohol and Leyte was fully restore, unfortunately for Negros provinces was only 65 percent. Panay Island at 40 percent.
