Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr. Vs Coach Freddie Roach

This is Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 Overtime, interviews with Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Coach Freddie Roach, as you can see Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr., like all disappointed with the Pacquia-Dela Hoya bout still babbles that Manny was just damn lucky beating Dela Hoya because he was dehydrated. Well, I say Mayweather Sr. (Gayweather according to some youtubers’ comment that I’ve read) is not a coach and trainer at all. He spends all his time trashed talked throughout the whole damn Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 show. One of the comment by joelspeach says: “The biggest mistake that Hatton did was to hire Mayweather he would have done better to stick with his old trainer and lasted longer. What makes Mayweather so special. Freddie Roach is the best trainer in history. Freddie is a genius trainer.” Well, too much praise for Freddie Roach there but I guess he is as for Manny is the living proof. Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr., where is your fast, bad, trash talking mouth in your one-on-one interview in HBO’s Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 Overtime interview? Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr. saying that Coach Freddie Roach’s prediction (that Ricky Hatton will go down in or before 3 rounds of boxing) will not come true. Now that it came true, with just 2 rounds Manny Pacquiao defeated Ricky Hatton. Can we consider Coach Freddie Roach to be an oracle also? Not just a good goddamn coach and trainer :) Well, here it is folks. Enjoy laughing as much I do while watching Coach Freddie Roach trashed talked him back face to face unlike this backstabbing Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr. It’s all over Coach Floyd Mayweather Sr., Coach Freddie Roach says him so. :) Now everybody is anticipating Manny Paquiao Versus Floyd Mayweather Jr., if he manages to beat Juan Manuel Marquez on July 2009. Now if Marquez wins, then the “Business is over” line of Manny Pacquiao will still continue with Juan Manuel Marquez.

RP clean every Manny Pacquiao event, maybe Manny Pacquiao can be the next president after being a fighting congressman

Not only the world gazed and anticipated “The Battle of East and West” Manny Pacquiao Versus Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas MGM Grand Garden Arena, but the Philippines have lowered crime incidents. I guess for the cure of H1N1 for a short time is Manny Pacquiao’s fights eh? :)

No one dares to miss the historical event. Even with the irritating (way too much) commercial breaks. Those who can’t afford to watch it on cable or in the malls, patiently waits in local national television. GMA 7 in partnership with Solar Sports for the coverage (in which Manny Pacquiao got conflict with the contract a.k.a. the scandal for ABS-CBN)

One article I’ve read from UK yahoo sport describes “the streets of the Philippines could resemble a ghost town for a few hours on Sunday morning as everyone from taxi drivers to petty thieves makes time to watch Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Britain’s Ricky Hatton.” This is very much true, all you can here across the streets and inside every home are either commercial of the bout or the bout itself. The fight aired in GMA Channel 7 at 10am but with all those annoying commercials the fight was seen at pass 2pm.

“In terms of sports events, every Pacquiao fight is the Philippines’ Super Bowl,” said Carlito Claudio, vice president for systems operations at the National Grid Corp of the Philippines.

Power demand normally rises by two per cent, or around 140 megawatts, whenever Pacquiao fights and this Sunday is likely to be no different, Claudio said.

This is like, wow, ain’t it? Indeed, Manny’s fight nowadays resembles’ Super Bowl Football.

…and here’s another wow…

“We have historical and statistical data to show that there’s always zero crime during Pacquiao’s actual match,” said Nicanor Bartolome, national police spokesman.

In the southern Mindanao island, government soldiers will set up a giant screen in a former camp of the militant rebel group Abu Sayyaf to watch the match, according to a local radio report.

Pacquiao, widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, has also distracted politicians.

Congress adjourned its session early this week so about 50 lawmakers, including the speaker of the House of Representatives, could fly to Las Vegas for the fight.

I even saw Pichay if I’m not mistaken, Prospero “Butch” Pichay, Jr. in that fight after Manny Pacquiao won. Ok, that’s a little bit of not wow for me. I mean, c’mon with the current situation of calamity in different provinces. You’ll dare to spend great money leave the country and watch the fight? Instead of helping our countrymen?

Oh well, atleast Manny Pacquiao manages to make the Philippines in peace, even for a couple of minutes. Next time Manny, make it to atleast the later rounds. So the Philippines can be at peace a little bit longer. :)

Rumor has it that he’ll be running for congress, a fighting congress he say. But I say go for presidency and have boxing fights every hour so the Philippines can be at peace.

Ok, I’m exagerrating too much. Don’t do it, just box. Not even for the congress. If you gonna do it, then stay away from those damn dirty politicians.

VCO vs Swine flu? Another commercial propaganda and a stepping stone for politicians

An article I read in the newspaper today in Philippine Star titled “VCO could strengthen immune system” by Jess Diaz states that the Virgin coconut oil or VCO could be the country’s weapon against the deadly H1N1 flu virus according to a new party-list representative yesterday. According to the former agriculture secretary Leonardo Montemayor:

“This crisis can be turned into a big opportunity for our coconut farmers and processors. The high lauric content of virgin coconut oil is known to strengthen the human immune system against microbes and viruses”

“Research and development on the possible use of VCO against (the H1N1) flu should be accelerated,” he added.

Montemayor, being one of the 25 new party-list representatives sworn in by Speaker Prospero Nograles on Tuesday. He represent ABA-AKO that made up of farmers fishermen.

Montemayor serves the table for the House with Resolution 1121 to immediately inquire that the government should have prepareness of H1N1 flu. As of now, the said flu caused 150 deaths already in Mexico and has been reported to have infected United States, Britain, Canada, Spain, Israel and New Zealand.

Aside from Mr. Montemayor, there are others who are advocating the use of VCO as an antidote to H1N1 flu. These are:

* Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan, University of the Philippines’ College of Medicine vice chancellor for research and former health secretary

* Dr. Fabian Dayrit, dean of the School of Science and Engineering and chemistry professor at Ateneo de Manila University

* Cory Quirino, health and wellness advocate

* Danilo Coronacion, president and chief executive officer of teh Coconut Industry Investment Fund-Oil Mills Group and also a former administrator of the Philippine Coconut Authority

* Tess Santos, president of the Virgin Coconut Oil Producers and Traders Association Inc.

* Cesar Villariba, executive director of the Katipunan ng Katutubong Kalakalan ng Quezon

* Gerardo Natividad, vice president for operations of the Maria Makiling Coconut Resources Corporation

* Maria Socorro Hernandez, managing director of ICONS management Consultancy Services

* Len Ang-Isleta, general manager of MARICOR Ads Inc

* Bayani Nito of A-Curve Alternative Advocacy.

Montemayor says that “Congress should also inquire if local governments and defense authorities are prepared to meet local outbreaks and If H1N1 flu should infect residents of a community, how will govermenet stop its spread to other area?”

Nicely done Montemayor but is this true to the heart. While our country is already struggling with the current climate change and floods from different provinces. The government is already lacking actions, or ..could it be that its only commercial propaganda to promote Virgin Coconut Oil?

Filipinos abroad in HK are weary, possible job loss because of H1N1 (popularly known as swine flu)

Hong Kong already confirmed its first case of H1N1 flu last week. Chloe Belle Dogeno, housemaid, who’s work are days of endless house cleaning, wiping doorknobs, washing rugs, towels, and bed sheets. Is worrying about the H1N1, she said its like when the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS outbreak in HK in 2003.

But rather than worrying the epidemic, she is much worry (like many of the 130,00o Filipino housemaids in this territory of China), go beyond the extra hous chores, expected restrictions by her employer to meet her friends, even her health. Plus, worse of it all is loosing her job once she gets infected. She’s a 42-year-old breadwinner, and like all filipinos getting out of the country who support her family and siblings with the money she earn and sent back to Dumangas, Iloilo.

When the global economic meltdown like what happened during the SARS epedimia, she’s very much worried about loosing her job.

“Now that the swine flu (H1N1) is here, it means more hard work for me—changing the doormats, bed sheets and towels more often. I have to do a lot of wiping again,” Dogeno said.

She remembered the things she did when SARS hit a few years ago. “I had to put a pail filled with Chlorox and disinfectant by the door so my wards—a couple and their two children—could wipe their shoes and things before entering. I had to constantly change the doormats and wipe the toilet,” she said.

She said she would be very careful now with hygiene because of the repercussions should she lose her job. “If I get terminated, I’m not the only one who will go hungry. It will be a tragedy for my family in the Philippines,” Dogeno said.

Her worries only worsen because the lack of government support for our OFW and the company she works for should have more knowledge regarding the outbreak. They didn’t have to overwork their employees this way.

For OFW like Dogeno, just think its much easier than work here in the Philippines where cleanliness and hygiene is not a matter. :)

Manny Pacquiao, officially a boxing legend

The world stopped moving when “The Battle of East and West” ended fast, stunning and merciless as Manny “The World’s Greatest Pound-for-Pound Fighter” Pacquiao who was even much more surprised than Ricky “Hitman” Hatton was sent to oblivion in round 2 of the bout. Ricky “Hitman” Hatton, for me, his tactics put him to this easy loss. Clinching and holding one arm while he hits in close range is one of his tactics as he always did in defending his International Boxing Organization or IBO’s light welterweight crown. But you’re holding the wrong arm when you clinche dude. You’re holding his right arm, while his left, where his true power resides. Manny Pacquiao is a left-hander, next time do your homework much better ok?

Now, Manny Pacquiao is the official “World’s Best pound-for-pound-fighter”.

Manny Pacquiao is nox a boxing legend who, as the only boxer who fought and successfully win them all in four weight classes. For a little boxing info for Manny Pacquiao, he took away Juan Manuel Marquez’s World Boxing Council 130-pound title, David Diaz’s 135-pound crown, and he also defeated Oscar De La Hoya in a 147-pound non-title bout last year.

In a short time for Manny Pacquiao, who updates his record to 47 wins with 37 knockouts, 3 loss and 2 draws.

Ricky “Hitman” Hatton, now goes home with (still) $8 million but alongnside with him are 16, 262 disappointed paying fans who filled MGM Grand Garden Arena to the rafters. Plus, to mention, disappointed Brits/non-brits fans around the world. Very much in contrast what he mentioned during the weight-in, oh did I also mention those who bet on Hatton?

Still, Pacquiao humbly said “I was surprised that the victory was so easy, but I’ve worked hard in training camp since the beginning of March.” He also held teh WBC flyweight and International Boxing Federation super bantamweight crowns.

Now Manny Pacquiao is not just a terror for his left hooks, but also his right where Ricky Hatton easily fall for the trap.

“He was wide open for the right hook. I knew he would be looking for my left,” said Pacquiao.

“It’s nothing personal. I was just doing my job. This is as big for me as the De La Hoya win,” added Pacquiao, who entered the ring at 148 pounds after checking in at 138 pounds during the weigh-in. Hatton fought at 152 pounds after earlier weighing in at the welterweight limit of 140 pounds.

The devastating loss stunned and quited the loud Briton fans inside Las Vegas MGM Grand Garden Arena. Who were overpowering the Filipinos’ cheers by singing a modified version of Winter Wonderland, Hatton’s main cheer.

It was no Wonderland but nightmare in  Dreamland for Hatton, who stayed almost motionless, catching his breath and consciousness on his back for a few minutes while being attended to by two ring physicians. He eventually got up on wobbly feet to his and left the ring assisted by his seconds.

As a precautionary measure, Hatton was taken to Valley Hospital, accompanied by members of his family and De La Hoya.

$12-M purse guaranteed for Money…err Manny Pacquiao. :) My mistake…

As a primary concern, Hatton’s safety was rest assured as he was taken to the hospital. Chief executive officer Richard Schaefer of the Golden Boy Promotions revealed during the post-fight conference.

“It was a hard loss, but I’m OK,” Hatton said later. “I didn’t really see the punch coming, but it was a great shot.”

Yeah right, it was all because you focus on making your bark strong but not your bite.

Pacquiao was guaranteed $12 million and Hatton $8 million outside of the pay-per-view and gate receipts.

Manny Pacquiao ended up unscathed, third time without a mark on his face agains Diaz and De La Hoya.

According to Top Rank Head honcho Bob Arum, the frightening thing about Pacquiao was still getting better. Like what I said previously, he’s always a work in progress.

Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s chief trainer, in full confidence with his fighter said it’s but natural that his prized ward should fight the winner of the Juan Manuel Marquez–Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout in July. Boxing keeps interesting for this year and I’m sure it will be followed throught by the fans and (now) the non-fans of boxing.

“The fans would want to see it. I think it would be great,” said Roach, who thanked Pacquiao for making him look good as a trainer.

He’s a ‘monster’, Coach Roach actually predicted this one at round 9 which is favorite number.

But at round 2?

Now, Coach Roach’s growing reputation as a fight seer, later on predicted that the fight won’t last in 3 rounds.

It doesn’t matter who’s going to be his next opponent, for Pacquiao. Affirmed his greatness fearless fighter will now be savored by him.

“This was no surprise at all,” Roach said. “Hatton pops his hand before he throws a punch. He’s a sucker for the right hook and that’s what we worked on the whole camp. He fights the same way over and over.”

“Manny is a monster. He is the best fighter ever. There is no surprise here.”

Hatton did not appear to have suffered a serious damage. He walked unaided back to his dressing room.

Floyd Mayweather Sr. was a no-show at the postfight news conference, leaving Hatton’s cotrainer, Lee Beard, to explain the mauling by Pacquiao.

Ricky got caught
“We knew about Manny’s speed and that it could play a factor in the fight,” Beard said. “What you saw was two rounds of action and Ricky got caught.”

According to computer statistics, “Pacman” landed 73 of 127 punches in just under six minutes, including 34 of 53 power punches in the second round, while “Hitman” Hatton connected on only 18 of 78.

Mexican Humberto Soto retained his WBC Super Featherweight Title by knocking out Canadian Benoit Gaudet in the ninth round after 2:25 in the main supporting bout.

The other Filipino in the card, Bernabe Concepcion won by unanimous decision over Yogli Herrera in his debut as a lightweight boxer.

Legender Welsh singer Tom Jones sang “God Save the Queen” while Martin Nievera sang “Lupang Hinirang”. American-Filipino teener Jasmine Villegas sang “Star-Spangled Banner” before Hatton and then Manny made their way into thte ring.

Pacquiao came in with his song from his album (wow) “Lahing Pinoy” recording and Hatton came in to the tune of Supra.

Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington, Mariah Carey were among the celebrities present, I think I even saw Puff Daddy there :)

The crowd goes silent while waiting for the announcer Michael Buffer with the world’s legendary and favorite “Let’s get ready to rumble” line before the Filipinos the “Manny, Manny” chants resumed.

Hundres of Britons, part of the 25,000 that flew in Las Vegas lingered at the hotel halls, gambling tables, beer in hand still thinking what hit them.

On the other hand, the Filipinos led by Pacquiao himself, celebrated at Mandalay Bay. They even broaght along a band from Manila and sang few songs.

Who wouldn’t?

Floyd Mayweather Sr., all bark no bite when he said that Manny Pacquiao doesn’t suit him to be a pound-for-pound boxer

An article written by Roy Luarca of the Philippine Daily Inquirer titled “Manny can’t fight, says Mayweather Sr.” is one of the proof when I say he’s all bark no bite. He barks strongly when he said that Manny Pacquiao fights like an amateur despite being the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter. Floyd Mayweather Sr. is the father of the boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr., who defeated Ricky “Hitman” Hatton to be the world’s number 1 light welterweight pound-for-pound fighter.

Even when I saw and heard him comment on the HBO’s “Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7″, that’s when I thought he overly underestimate Manny Pacquiao. This will be another demise for Ricky “Hitman” Hatton. And it came true today, May 2, 2009 when Manny Pacquiao defeated Hatton instantly over a round and a half in their bout titled “The Battle of East and West” at MGM Grand Arena Las Vegas.

He was too overconfident to compare the two, wherein he didn’t study overall about Pacquiao. He specifically say that he likens Ricky Hatton and compare him to an animal, specifically a tiger, the ring. Ferocious and vicious as a fighter, an epitome of what a boxing student should be-talented and a fast learner. Did you ever care to know Floyd that Manny is always a work in progress. Sure, I watched how Ricky Hatton fights. I like how he unleashed those body blows that destroyed his opponents. His form is great even outbalanced and managed to steady the power in it.

In the very contrast of Mayweather Sr.’s ideas about Manny Pacquio in low esteem. Now his retired son Floyd Mayweather will go back to the ring to fight Juan Manuel Marquez. Check again Floyd Mayweather Sr., your son defeated Hatton in ten rounds. Whereas, Ricky Hatton was defeated yet again only in two rounds by Manny Pacquiao. Where’s your “technical” knowledge in boxing you’re boasting in HBO’s Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7?

I even remember when Floyd Mayweather commented about Pacquiao’s shadow boxing with jabs. That’s where I remember you exactly said those are amateur jabs will take Manny nowhere.

Now you got your lesson to strengthen your “dog-under-training” to have a strong, vicous bite rather than strong barks. Well, it’s no wonder that you pick your pupil, Hatton, he barks too much just the same as you. No bite at all. Just like your son, trash talked Ricky Hatton during their fight in “Undefeated”. Let’s see if your son can do the job of destroying the world’s current pound-for-pound fighter.

Another quote by Mayweather Sr.

“Not only is Hatton bigger, stronger than Pacquiao, he is also smarter, slicker, clever, smoother,” said Mayweather.

“If I have a fighter of eight years like Freddie Roach had Manny, I wouldn’t be thinking so much about the size because Manny still can’t fight if you ask me,” said Mayweather.

Pacquiao-Hatton: The Battle of the East and West conclusion

The fight ended fast but stunning. Manny Pacquiao with an amazing stats for the night, very accurate as he landed 73 of his 127 punches in the fight, this catches the attention of Floyd Mayweather Jr. who said he would return for a July 18 fight with guess who? Juan Manuel Marquez.

Ricky “Hitman” Hatton connected only 18, out of 78 un-bloody punches.

Manny Pacquiao approached his promoter Bob Arum in the ring afterwards and asked ” Are you happy?”

Bob Arum replied proudly with “You’re going to be the greatest fighter who ever lived”.

Manny Pacquiao is a good pound-for-pound fighter, but I didn’t expect him to do much for counters. I guess this is what Coach Roach sees in Hatton’s loss with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Hatton rushes too much, clinched too much (which I commented in my previous post). Hatton falls for the counters and this his second fall for it. Hatton was defeated by Floyd Mayweather Jr. too in 2007 by a counter too.

Pacquiao planned evading Hatton’s intimidating step-ins and then shower him with a flurry of punches and counter-punches. The monumental performance stunned the world because Ricky “Hitman” Hatton had lost only once, and a current world-class fighter for years.

I correct myself in my recent previous post about the left hook but it was actually a left cross.

Manny Pacquiao quiets and upsets again Ricky Hatton’s fans that even flew to Las Vegas all the way from England.

If you didn’t know, Hatton build his reputation the same way Manny does, tough and aggressive fighter who wore his opponents down. I even think before that Hatton have more options than Manny, but didn’t realized that he’s not used to fighting southpaws.

16,262 bosterous crowd for Hatton quited at the MGM Grand Arena as Pacquiao pummeled Hatton flat-out. Pacquiao made the fight look like a freaking no-competition-at-all, I not saying that Manny is too good. I say this because there are too many flaws for Hatton’s camp which I will tackle later.

Now the barking starts for Freddie Roach after the biting is done, “The fight was no surprise to me”. “We know he always pumps his hands before he throws a punch. He’s a sucker for the right hook.”

One of the element I see when I saw Hatton’s coach, Floyd Mayweather Sr. (well, I saw Hatton did this too in HBO’s Pacquiao-Hatton: 24/7) started barking in that show even before the fight. Chanting, and boistering that Pacquiao is no match for Hatton. Now you know, what’s the “real deal” Floyd. Everybody is keep saying that the previous fights of Manny Pacquiao is a circus.

Pacquiao fighting a bigger man for the second time in a row, weighted 138 pounds for the fightand 140 for Hatton.

This didn’t bother him, but pleeeeease Manny stay away from aspiring to be a Congressman or even a President. Rumors has it that he’ll be a “fighting congressman”.

Pacquiao concluded the fight with 49 wins with 37 knockouts, 3 loss, and 2 draws. Earned $12 million (kaching kaching), well I guess you can run for presidency now that you have funds unlike those “others” who take it out from their pork barrels, people’s taxes and the people’s funds.

On other hand, Ricky Hatton with still a clean (45 wins and now 2 losses) and was paid $8 million.

Looking for the best pound-for-pound boxer? Manny Pacquiao dominates Ricky “Hitman” Hatton with his devastating left hook

The huge fight of boxing, “The East versus the West” a 140-pound title bout, for the year ends fast and powerful. Manny Pacquiao devastated again the world, and ends the fight in round 2 just before 15 seconds of the round ends. Ricky “Hitman” Hatton took a huge left hook in that round which jolted him black out of the fight’s existence.

Referee Kenny Bayless didn’t even have to count, he took one good look at Hatton and declared the fight is over, 2:59 of the second round. I think Hatton underestimate Manny Pacquiao when I watched HBO’s “Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7″, I bet his coach, Floyd Mayweather Sr. (the father of Floyd Mayweater Jr. who defeated Hatton for the first time in their fight titled “Undefeated”), overly underestimate Manny Pacquiao even more thus putting one more loss to Hatton’s record.

I guess Mayweathers and Hattons don’t mixed well together. I’ve seen their fight “Undefeated” way back in July 28, 2007 and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. defeated him at round 10 with 1 minute and 29 seconds remaining before the round ends.

Manny Pacquiao defeated Ricky “Hitman” Hatton officially at round 2. Manny Pacquiao keeps getting better and better, even way better after the De La Hoya fight. Manny Pacquaio fought clean and simple knocking Hatton down two times in the first round. Ricky Hatton clinche a lot of times to keep the distance intact which I guess the wrong tactic. C’mon Coach Mayweather, didn’t you see that Manny Pacquiao have vicious compact punches at close range? See the outcome if you underestimate your opponent, indeed the side of Coach Roach have bigger bites than barks.

Las Vegas is filled with both of the fighters’ fans. After the fight was over, the world now knows who is the best pound-per-pound fighter.

Hatton, looking at the ceiling lights after taking that vicious left, laid on the canvas for some minutes. The doctors tended and check his condition, he was taken to the nearest local hospital for a precautionary brain scan. Who wouldn’t? After taking that jolting punch of Manny Pacquiao, I literaly say “he” rocks your world.
